Go Inward

The moment we take responsibility for our pain is the moment we take our first steps toward healing. What is causing our discomfort or dis-ease (the absence of ease) starts inside of us. We’re the common denominator

Unwind

While this should never be the goal, unwinding is a state of spontaneous movement that can include twisting or turning, bending or shaking. These movements are within a client’s comfort zone and allow for restrictions to release naturally

Release

Let restrictions soften and let go, so you can regain range of motion, move more freely, and feel less sore

Sessions in my Canoga Park office or in your home

What to expect in your first session

Talk: We go over your history, your pain, and your goals.

Assess: I look at your posture and movement and feel for fascial restrictions.

Treat: About 60 minutes of hands-on myofascial release, done directly on the skin with no oils or lotions. Wear comfortable shorts and a sports bra or tank top.

Plan: You leave with simple self-care tips and a recommendation for next steps.

A different kind of bodywork

Slow, sustained pressure. I hold gentle pressure for 90 seconds to five minutes at a time, giving fascia time to soften and release instead of forcing the muscles.

No oils or lotions. Working directly on the skin lets me feel exactly where restrictions are and follow them.

The whole you. Pain often shows up far from where it starts, so I look at how your whole body is holding tension, and I teach you simple self-care to keep your progress going between sessions.

Meet Xander, the Practitioner

My path here is a little unconventional. I spent years in television and film, which gave me creativity, travel, and wonderful people, along with long hours, poor body mechanics, and crews who desperately needed physical relief. I enjoyed the work, but I felt I was meant for more.

I began my myofascial release journey working on horses. What I loved most is that horses can’t fake recovery; they just get better. That was all the proof I needed. I trained in the John F. Barnes approach, and getting to the root cause of people’s pain has become my passion and my life’s work.

I work with adults and children, people with disabilities or in recovery, and anyone living with chronic, severe, or unexplained pain, or carrying physical or emotional trauma. I see clients at my office in Canoga Park and travel throughout Los Angeles County.
